Chiropractic for Children

Why would a child have a spine and nervous system problem? Traumatic births. Learning to walk. Slips. Falls. The list is endless. But because children have such an adaptive capacity, these problems are often brushed off as "growing pains" or just a "phase they're going through."

“As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”

There is evidence showing chiropractic care being helpful for colic, ear infections, erratic sleeping habits, bed-wetting, scoliosis, “growing pains” and many other common childhood health complaints.  More research needs to be done on this and other fields associated with children and chiropractic.

The concern that many parents have is that chiropractic adjustments will be too forceful. They mistakenly think that their child will receive adjustments like ones they receive. Not only are adjusting techniques modified for each person's size and unique spinal problem, an infant's spine rarely has the long-standing muscle tightness seen in adults. This makes a child's chiropractic adjustments gentle, comfortable and effective.

Dr. Hanft has adjusted infants, children, and teenagers, and they have responded amazingly well! We’ve helped kids with colic, ear infections, head soreness, and other conditions. In the end, we simply want as many people to experience chiropractic care, and kids are no exception.

The next time you get adjusted, ask yourself this: As good as it makes you feel, do you think your kids would get equally as much out of an adjustment? If the answer is yes, make an appointment for them and know that you’re taking safe, effective steps at making sure their “twig” gets straightened out so they can grow straight, tall and to their full potential.
